Let’s Go Full On Ugly!
As the holiday season gets into full swing, it’s time for the Cycle department at Fitness Incentive to start preparing for our long-standing tradition of hosting our annual “Ugly Sweater Ride.” Each year, members get decked out in mistletoe and holly, bells, tinsel, ribbons, ornaments, and anything holiday-related that they can somehow incorporate into the ugliest but merriest outfit they can put together. This year’s event will be our seventh, and it will be held at 8am on Saturday, December 21st, right here in our cycle room.
A Holiday Tradition
I started this tradition in December of 2018, purely as just another themed ride to have some fun with my Saturday morning class. I did not anticipate the lengths that some people would go to impress me with their ugly attire. It was truly a holiday miracle. There were full Santa Clause jumpsuits, head-to-toe elf attire (even down to the shoes!), people stuffed into gift bags literally “up to their elbows” in tissue paper, an actual “Buddy The Elf,” Hanukkah sweaters, sweaters adorned with miniature bikes and dumbbells, crazy socks, a few leg lamps, actual working lights, and even some tracksuits that look like they came fresh out of Santa’s closet. Is there a limit to the lengths people will go to win the coveted title of “Ugliest”? Only time will tell.
Not even a pandemic could stop the Ugly Sweater Ride. Remember those outdoor spin classes?
Here is a history in photos of the big event. We hope that it provides some inspiration. Perhaps YOU could be this year’s winner. Much like Lotto, you have to be in it to win it. Don’t worry about cycling in your cozy ‘fit. We do the judging before we start the class. So, when you pull out the holiday bins, don’t just deck the halls and trim the tree; decorate yourself! You might win some cool Fitness Incentive logo wear and, of course, bragging rights. Ho-Ho-Hope to see you there!
